about me
How did I find homebirth?
Prior to 2014, I knew little about birth. I went off as a freshly turned 18 year old to the University of the Sunshine Coast to study a Dual Bachelor of Nursing & Midwifery…& my world changed.
Over the next 3 years, I attended 100+ antenatal appointments (+ hours and hours of my life sitting in waiting rooms with women), 100+ post natal appointments, approx. 15 hospital births, and 11 continuity of care follow through experiences, I burnt myself out.
The disconnect between what I learnt at uni, with incredible midwives that valued and were/are in a fight for physiological birth, and what I actually saw mean’t I burnt myself out.
I left midwifery after 3 years, and finished my nursing, accepting I had just paid for the most expensive antental class ever & also knowing when my time to birth came, I would choose private midwifery.
& so in 2019/2020, that’s what I did.
You can listen to my birth stories here.
My greatest hope and dream…
is to spend the rest of my life supporting women and their families who choose to birth at home, and to join the fight for accessible homebirth in Australia.
